Instant Pot recipes are all the rage right now. Procrastinators and busy moms have all united in Instant Pot love! I haven’t quite jumped on the bandwagon yet, but I’m accepting donations for an IP purchase if you think you can convince me. For me, cooking is a slow moving process. I sip the wine, stir the pot… it’s my therapy.
BUT I’m also not opposed to simplifying our dinner time, especially when we haven’t had much time to plan out our meals. It would be SO easy to toss those frozen chicken breasts in and have baked chicken in a flash, or quickly boil eggs for delicious Deviled Eggs. I can definitely see it’s worth!
What can an instant pot do?
I think the better question would be what can’t it do! Apparently this sucker can do everything from cooking frozen chicken in under 30 minutes to Creme Brulee in 10!
The Instant Pot is a multi-cooker that does the job of a slow cooker, electric pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, yogurt maker, sauté/browning pan, and more. It’s basically several tools boiled down to one cooker. If you check out their website, the options of “cookers” are beyond all imagination. It really is the most versatile of tools. And, since, I am always talking about versatility in the kitchen, it might be time I take the leap.
What are the best things to cook in an instant pot?
Since I have yet to use one, I’m not 100% sure on the best things to cook. But I see this gadget being especially useful for defrosting frozen chicken, cooking rice, dried beans, potatoes, etc. It’s also kind of a one-pot situation, too. You can brown, saute and pressure cook. I’m sure you could also do some old time canning, but I haven’t hear many details on that front.
In fact, Here are some great beginner ideas for the Instant Pot. I’ll definitely reference Mom’s Dinner’s guide on beginner stuff when I get my Instant Pot.
