Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. Since I was little, I loved giving and receiving Valentine’s Day cards and decorating a small Valentine’s mailbox, have classroom parties and a day full of sugar!
I always dreamed of having my own daughter to do the same girly decorating with, but God laughed when he heard those plans! I was blessed with a stepson who was ALL boy! When I met Nikolai at six years old, I had a small window to “mommy” him before he got too old and knew what I was doing.
I did manage to get a little bit of fun in before he reached the macho man-boy stage. Before Taras and I were even engaged, I remember helping Nikolai with his Valentine’s Day cards and treats for school. It was so much fun. But, now, he’s way to manly for all of that mushy stuff, so here I am living vicariously through all of you who have darling little girls, full of excitement for Valentine’s Day!
